Care without shortcuts

Why Northwest Indiana Drivers Choose Porter’s Detailing

Controlled indoor installation

Every CCI ceramic coating is installed indoors, with dedicated shop lighting and time for careful application and initial curing.

Thorough preparation

Professional washing, chemical decontamination and mechanical treatment where needed remove residue before polishing. Proper preparation gives the coating a clean surface to bond to; it cannot correct defects underneath.

Inspection before correction

We assess your paint under shop lighting, explain which defects can be improved safely and match correction to its condition. Our real shop photographs show the clarity and reflections this preparation can achieve.

A clear, personal recommendation

Discuss your vehicle, paint condition and daily use directly with us. Understand the coating term, included services and starting price before choosing a package—without a one-size-fits-all recommendation.

For drivers traveling from Crown Point, Cedar Lake or Lowell, the reason to choose Porter’s is the care behind the finish: professional preparation, controlled indoor installation and personal guidance before and after pickup.

Northwest Indiana driving conditions

Winter residue. Everyday care.

Lake-effect snow, road salt and calcium chloride deicers leave residue that needs regular attention. Whether you commute through St. John and Schererville or drive around Dyer and Valparaiso, winter grime, road film, bugs and everyday environmental contamination are part of caring for your vehicle.

Ceramic coating improves water repellency and can help contamination release more readily during proper washing. It does not stop salt exposure, prevent corrosion or eliminate water spots. Regular safe washing—including uncoated areas—and Porter’s aftercare guidance remain essential to maintaining your paint’s appearance over time.

Durability depends on preparation, exposure and ongoing care. Ceramic coating makes maintenance easier; it does not eliminate washing or prevent rock chips, deep scratches or all water spots.

All packages require at least 24 hours of initial indoor curing before pickup. Full cure is approximately 12 days measured from coating application, not an additional 12 days after pickup, subject to product-specific guidance. Follow Porter’s specific aftercare instructions throughout, including when washing can resume; pickup does not mean the coating is fully cured.

Northwest Indiana ceramic coating questions

Is ceramic coating worth it in Northwest Indiana?

For drivers who value easier exterior maintenance and a well-kept finish, ceramic coating can be a useful part of vehicle care. Lake-effect snow, road salt and calcium-chloride deicers leave winter residue; summer humidity and rain also make regular washing important. A coating helps water shed and contamination release during proper cleaning, but does not replace washing or prevent every water spot.

Does ceramic coating help with road salt and winter grime?

A coated surface can make winter grime and salt residue easier to remove during safe washing. Salt and deicer residue should still be cleaned off regularly, including areas a paint coating does not cover. Ceramic coating is not a guarantee against corrosion.

How much does ceramic coating cost?

C12+ starts at $650, ADVANCE at $1,100 and REVOLUTION at $1,450. These are the current entry prices; vehicle size, paint condition and the preparation or correction required determine your personalized quote. The main Ceramic Coating page provides the complete package details.

How long does ceramic coating last?

Our current options are C12+ 12-Month Ceramic Protection, ADVANCE 3–5 Year Protection and REVOLUTION 6+ Year Protection. These package terms depend on proper preparation, product guidance and ongoing maintenance; exposure and care affect actual performance. They are not a promise of maintenance-free paint or an advertised warranty.

Does ceramic coating prevent scratches?

No. Ceramic coating adds a sacrificial surface layer, not rock-chip armor. It does not prevent rock chips, deep scratches, dents or mechanical damage. Safe washing remains essential to reduce wash-induced marks. Paint correction addresses existing defects where appropriate; coating is not a substitute for correction.

Is paint correction included?

C12+ includes one-step paint correction and paint surface preparation. ADVANCE includes one-step paint correction, glass protection and trim protection. REVOLUTION includes full paint correction, glass protection and trim protection. We inspect the paint first and discuss what correction is appropriate and achievable for your vehicle.

How long will my vehicle need to stay at the shop?

Turnaround depends on vehicle size, paint condition and the package. Every coating requires at least 24 hours of initial indoor curing after application before pickup, in addition to preparation and installation time. Full cure is approximately 12 days from application—not 12 additional days after pickup—subject to product-specific guidance. Follow Porter’s aftercare instructions throughout; we confirm your pickup plan when quoting.

Where is Porter’s Detailing located?

Our only physical shop is at 8693 E 7000 N Road, Grant Park, Illinois 60940. All ceramic coating installations are performed indoors here—not outdoors, in driveways or through a mobile setup. Use our directions link to plan your trip from your own starting point.
